Frequently asked questions

Which tax years are covered?

2025/26 and 2026/27. The current tax year is selected automatically on 6 April; you can switch years in Settings. New rates are added in an app update once they are announced.

Why is my personal allowance shown as £12,579 rather than £12,570?

PAYE turns the £12,570 allowance into tax code 1257L and then treats that code as allowing £12,579 for the year. HMRC's own estimator and your payslip use that figure, so the app does too.

I have two jobs. Why is the second one taxed at 20% on everything?

Unless you enter a tax code for it, the app assumes HMRC has given the second job code BR, which is what usually happens. Enter the code from that job's payslip to change it. The breakdown also shows whether the tax taken across your jobs is more or less than is due on your total income.

Why don't the figures match my payslip exactly?

Payroll works per pay period and rounds National Insurance and student loan deductions each time, so a year's worth can differ from the app's annual calculation by a few pounds. Bonuses, benefits in kind, emergency (W1/M1) codes and salary sacrifice for things other than pensions are not modelled.

Is my data sent anywhere?

No. Everything is calculated and stored on your device. There is no account, no analytics and no advertising.

Is this financial advice?

No. Figures are estimates for an employee paid through PAYE. Check with HMRC or your payslip for exact amounts.
